Interview @ Challies.com

Tim Challies over at Challies.com sent me some questions regarding our loss of Emily. I've enjoyed Tim's blog for years, it's one of my every day must-reads. I hope if you read the interview, you'll check his blog regularly.

I found these questions tough yet sensitive. I'm really glad I had a couple days to think about them and get Juanita's help. They would have been hard to answer on the spot.

This was a hard exercise. I went back and read my blog posts from last fall. The comments were what really got me. It was such a difficult time, but we so appreciated the encouragement and help from so many people.

This morning I preached on 2 Samuel chapter 12 on repentance and forgiveness. Parts of that were hard, too, but God's Word is such a great anchor.

It was so nice to meet you this past weekend at Cross Lake. Pastor Lyle told us of your daughter's homegoing the day after it happened, and I read your blog for a while afterwards at that time.

Today it is 31 years since the Lord took my first husband home. Bob was 30 years old, and suffered illness for nearly two years before his homegoing.

During our worship service this morning we sang a chorus based on a verse the Lord used to comfort and encourage me after Bob's death, and has used to bless me on several occasions since then as well. I'm sure you know the verse well... Isaiah 61:3.

In our wonderful Lord,
Willena Flewelling

It was great to meet you and your family, Willena, at the family camp.

That was a good interview, Terry. Your comments about Juanita "pressing in" to God more closely were very inspiring. I wish I could meet her and know her.
